Aalberts presents trainee programme benefits at University of Twente

Aalberts gave a lunchtime lecture on career opportunities to around 30 students from the Industrial Engineering faculty at University of Twente. The company was introduced by recent graduate and current Aalberts trainee programme participant Willem Wisselink, who discussed his experiences at Aalberts over the last year.

real opportunities
Trainee programmes are a powerful way for new graduates to get their careers off to a flying start, and many of the students who attended the lunch said they were impressed both by the entrepreneurial set up of Aalberts’ programme and the international possibilities.

“These are elements I recognise,” explains Willem. “Aalberts is an entrepreneurial company with a flat structure that offers you fantastic opportunities to experience what it’s like to be close to senior management and get used to the real pressures companies deal with. In my third week I was asked to coordinate a stock movement of 300 pallets from a warehouse in the Netherlands to a warehouse in Germany. It was a great experience as you get to know a lot of people really quickly, gain people’s trust and learn how to work together.”

powerful message
The lunch lecture enabled Aalberts to make students enthusiastic about the company while strengthening its employer brand. As Willem said during his introduction, at Aalberts you are encouraged to step out of your comfort zone and quickly need to learn to deliver on time and first-time right. “Everyone is different, so every traineeship is tailor-made. If you find the place that feels like home in the company then Aalberts is open to discussing how they can make sure you stay there, which is one of the real strengths of the programme,” he added.
