Aalberts has officially opened its 12,000 m² surface treatment production hall in Tatabánya, Hungary, marking a major milestone in the company’s growth in Central Europe.
The facility expands capacity, introduces state-of-the-art automation, and strengthens Aalberts’ role as a trusted partner for automotive, defense and industry.
Local officials, including Mr. Magyar (deputy minister of foreign affairs and trade), Mr. Bencsik (parliamentarian), and Mr. Karbuczky (deputy COO of Hungarian Investment Agency), together with valued customers and dedicated Aalberts employees, joined Aalberts CEO Stéphane Simonetta, Oliver Jäger, CEO of Aalberts surface technologies, and members of the Aalberts management team to commemorate the milestone with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the factory.
expanding capacity and capabilities
The Tatabánya hall features a new cathodic dip coating (CDC) technology for large products up to 3.0 × 2.0 × 1.2 metres, alongside expanded powder coating, water-based, and solvent-based painting capacities.
A fully automated assembly line, operated by 15 industrial robots, ensures precise handling and assembly of semi-finished products, while collecting valuable production data.
“By integrating modern automation and digital monitoring systems, we are taking another step toward data-driven, sustainable production,” says Oliver Jäger, CEO Aalberts surface technologies. “Our goal is to serve our customers with even higher quality and efficiency.”
supporting Hungary’s automotive ambition
Hungary is positioning itself as a leading supplier of high-tech solutions to the automotive industry, and Aalberts Tatabánya contributes directly to this vision. The project was supported by a government grant recognising Aalberts’ contribution to regional innovation and job creation. Marking 25 years of Aalberts’ production in Tatabánya, the expansion highlights the company’s continued growth and commitment to innovation.
“We are proud to be offering zinc-flake technology, along with a wide range of coating services in one location,” adds Oliver. “Our expertise, capacity and can-do attitude give our customers great confidence and ensure that we remain a strong partner in the years to come.”
Investing in sustainable growth
The expansion will increase production capacity by more than 60%, including a 10,700 m2 production hall equipped with energy monitoring and building automation systems that meet today's expectations, as well as a 1.000m2 two-story office building.
“This expansion is an important milestone for Aalberts' thrive 2030 strategy, which aims to recharge industry, drive organic growth. It strengthens our capabilities, supports sustainable growth, and reinforces our position as a trusted partner in extending product lifetime and achieving energy efficiency, says Stéphane Simonetta, CEO of Aalberts.
