MIFA has signed a four-year contract extension with Austrian bike and motorbike manufacturer KTM to produce front fork outer tubes for the company's mountain bike range. Working with KTM since 2008, the extension underscores both MIFA’s commitment to and its in-depth knowledge of a key customer.

“this will be a big job, but we have a great team behind us and a very strong relationship, so we are convinced that we can achieve this together”

long-term relationship
“We are delighted and extremely proud to have signed a contract extension with KTM,” says Rob van Oene, MIFA managing director. “We have enjoyed a long and fruitful relationship with KTM stretching back to 2008, and our dedication and unparalleled company knowledge have brought us this far. We overcame a few challenges in 2019/20, which we discussed openly with the customer. To overcome them, we set up a key account team and dealt with each challenge one by one. This approach enabled us to improve quality, delivery performance and communication, and we have emerged with a better product, a better process and above all a better relationship with KTM. As a result, we have now returned to the category of best-performing suppliers, which is a real team achievement. The knowledge that we have acquired from key account management with KTM has enabled us to refine the relationship we have with other customers, and we will use this structure for customer relationships going forward.”

increasing production
During 2021, MIFA produced an astonishing 370,000 outer tubes. “We are the only company that does this for KTM,” says Rob. “It is our precision extrusion and a combination of several technologies that gives us the edge, and KTM has asked us to increase production to around 400,000 units annually in the coming years. This will be a big job, but we have a great team behind us and a very strong relationship with the customer, so we are convinced that we can achieve this together.”
